About SCY

SCY PURPOSE

The well-being of children is to be honoured in action.  Creating environments that foster the safety and healthy development of children and youth requires commitment.  The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child provides the foundation for action on this commitment.

SCY MISSION

To improve the well-being of every child and youth in BC.

SCY GOALS

The Society is dedicated to the following outcomes:

  1. Governments, communities and the people of BC recognize, explicitly support, and act to uphold the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  2. There is equity of inclusion and outcomes for all children and youth.
  3. Children and youth have meaningful participation, and a child/youth perspective is included, in all decisions that affect them.
  4. British Columbia and its communities are recognized leaders in child- and youth-friendly planning, action and achievement.
  5. Sufficient and stable resources, public and private, are dedicated to improving the well-being of children and youth.
