Child Abuse Education/Prevention

- First in B.C. (in collaboration with United Way) to research sexual abuse. (The Sexual Exploitation of Children: An Initial Study.) 1979
- Development of the "Feeling Yes, Feeling No" child abuse prevention program with Green Thumb Theatre. 1983-5
- Implementation in Vancouver Schools. 1985 - Video produced with National Film Board. 1984-5 - Analysis of school-based child sexual abuse prevention programs (with United Way). 1989
- Formed task force on the Badgley Report (National Report on Sexual Offenses Against Children and Youth) which facilitated child witness testimony in sexual abuse cases. 1984 -1987
- Held conference entitled Child Sexual Abuse, a National Tragedy in 1984 with the Justice Institute of B.C.
- Produced publication called Blueprint for the Prevention of Child Abuse: A handbook for communities in 1985 (revised 1986).
- Involvement in the development of an educational kit for children called Critical Viewing. Produced in partnership with the Justice Institute in 1987.
- Development and promotion of Put the Child First train-the-trainer program for child and youth serving organizations. 1990-1993
- Acted as a B.C. consultant group in a two-year national study of child sexual abuse which led to a national consultation and the publication Reaching for Solutions. (Rix Rogers) 1988-1990
- Involvement in program planning for first judicial education conference at the Western Judicial Education Centre. 1990
- Held conference in 1991 in Vancouver entitled Reaching for Solutions: Challenges for the Nineties with the Justice Institute of B.C.
- Formed task group on B.C.'s Child Protection Legislation; prepared brief to Community Panel in 1992; an a response to White Paper in 1993.
- Held conference in 1993 in Vancouver entitled Safer Futures: Building a Framework for Prevention in Youth Community.
- Worked on development of child abuse/exploitation theme area for the international conference Stronger Children, Stronger Families in Victoria in 1994.
